Stronghold of the Maratha Queen Ahilyabai Holkar, the beautiful Ahilya Fort is nestled atop the riverside ghats of Maheshwar, and chaperones over the gushing Narmada river. This historical fort, which was the queen’s residence, was transformed into an opulent hotel by Richard Holkar, her descendant. One of the best places in the building is the Mandap terrace, which affords unparalleled views of the Narmada. 

The 14 luxurious rooms of the fort are scattered over 7 buildings, which take names of the plants that grace its surroundings.

The quiet, peaceful ambiance of the fort makes it ideal for families and couples alike.
